Tiger

Tiger

male

JRT

Unique Foster home required

We are looking for a unique foster home for a unique dog. Tiger, came to us as a welfare case. Due to the conditions, he was semi-feral when he arrived with us and petrified. It has been a very long process in kennels to educate him that not all humans are bad and that they can begin to build relationships with people. Tiger is now regularly walked and handled by our team of volunteers. He has turned around so well that we have been able to sort vaccinations, microchips and neuters, but we now need some help to get him to the next stage of their rehabilitation. The ideal foster home (and we are aware this is a big ask) should be able to provide the following:- Somebody at home most of the day
- No children & no visiting children
- No other pets
- Within a 15 mile radius of Rugby CV21
- Small and totally secure garden
- Be willing to work with us on a forward going plan
- Stick to that plan!
- Provide ongoing advice to new owners post-adoption.

The ideal fosterer will be patient, tolerant, consistent and willing to work at a slow pace without pushing for results! The phrase “slowly, slowly catchy monkey” will become your mantra and you will be able to turn a blind eye to accidents that will happen at first in the home.

So what do you get out of this?!

This is what we term “frontline rescue”. Taking a traumatised dog and helping them adjust to a new world – this should be reward enough for you. We provide everything your foster dog will need whilst with you, from food to any vet treatment, so your kindness will not leave you out of pocket.

Previous experience with dogs from puppy farm backgrounds, or similar, would be beneficial. Of course, it is quite possible that you may fall in love and wish to adopt yourself and once we are satisfied that the dog in your care is ready for this step, we would consider this option.

If you think you are ready and able to really make a difference to a dog’s life, or require more information on this voluntary role, please email us pdrescue@hotmail.com so we can discuss further. Please put “Unique Foster Home” in the subject line and we will be in touch as soon as possible.

Nicci

Nicci

10-years-old, female

Terrier

Nicci was in a pretty bad way when she arrived at Pawprints. She had an enormous mass around her shoulder which was impacting on her mobility meaning she was very slow and sluggish at walking and was pretty depressed. The good news is that she has now had the mass removed and whilst she is no spring chicken she certainly is not acting her age and appears to have found her mojo and is enjoying her walks and runs in the field. Nicci is looking for an adult only home with no other dogs as she can be reactive to some dogs if they are too boisterous with her. This leads her to becoming stressed. Unfortunately, before Nicci came into rescue she was not very well cared for and as a result has got very sore ears. Due to the length of time without treatment, it may be she needs ongoing treatment in this area which we will discuss in more detail with anyone looking to adopt her.
Nicci walks nicely on the lead and loves to play, sniff and eat treats. She is looking for a home where she can enjoy at least two 30 minute walks a day and enjoy the peace and quiet at home relaxing. If you think you offer Nicci a home please complete an adoption form on the link below

Brandy Brandy

5-months-old, female

Terrier X

Brandy is a typical young terrier. She is full of life, loves to play, loves her cuddles and has no training. Since arriving at Pawprints she has learnt to sit and would love to continue training in her new home. She has met lots of dogs since arriving and has enjoyed playing with all of them so she could live with another well matched canine companion. She loves to play ball and enjoys having a go on the agility equipment so her new home may want to look into using some of her energy upon activities such as flyball or agility. As mentioned above she is very energetic so Brandy would like an active home and requires 2 good walks a day. If you think you can offer Brandy a home please complete an adoption form on the link below

Eugene

Eugene

18-month-old, male

Collie

Eugene recently came back into rescue after not settling in his new home and whilst he is gaining confidence he is still nervous when meeting new people. He loves other dogs and is a totally different dog and so much more confident when around them and benefit from living with another dog. He can not live with cats and will chase livestock so his new humans would need to bear this in mind when out walking. Due to his nervousness, we would recommend a home with children over the age of 12, continued socialisation and training will to help build his confidence.
If you think you can offer ‘Eugene’ or any of our dogs a forever home please complete our online adoption form

Dumpling

***Reserved***

Dumpling

18-months-old, female

Lurcher

Dumpling has only recently come into rescue with us and on arrival was extremely wary and nervous around humans. After meeting a number of our volunteer dog walkers she is starting to trust and is coming out of herself. Although she is nervous, she copes really well on the lead and will let you stroke her. Once she has learnt to trust you she can then become quite playful. Dumpling does not know any commands at the moment so training in this area will be needed once in the home. She loves the company of other dogs and gains confidence when around them so Dumpling is looking for a home with a well-matched canine companion who she can continue to gain confidence with. If you think you can offer Dumpling a home please complete an adoption form on the link below.

Ginny

Ginny

18-months-old, female

Terrier

Ginny is a very affection little terrier who loves humans and loves her cuddles. She would prefer to be the only dog in the home so she can get all the fuss and attention she needs. Ginny walks nicely on the lead but does not appear to know any commands so further training will be needed and she would also benefit from further socialisation as she can be a little wary and uncertain around some dogs. If you think you can offer Ginny a home please complete an adoption form on the link below.

Guinness

Blackberry

4-years-old, male

Patterdale

Blackberry is looking for an experienced terrier home. She is strong on the lead, very strong minded and does not appear to have had any training. She will need extensive training on recall as she is very interested in ‘everything’ when outside and will pick up the scent of any animal and follow and is simply not bothered by toys, affection or treats when there are far more interesting smells to follow. She is reactive to other dogs so cannot live with another canine or any small furries. Further socialisation with other dogs may help in this area and her new humans will need to be aware of her personal space when around other dogs.
If you can offer Blackberry a home please complete an adoption form on the link below.

Ben

Ben

7-years-old, male

Collie

Ben has recently come into rescue and is looking for an adult only home with no other dogs. He is a typical collie and loves to play ball, he will retrieve and drop and will do this all day given the chance. He is looking for an active home with a large garden as he can become unsettled in confined spaces. We understand he has lived around cows and sheep but we have not assessed him directly in this area and have no knowledge about him being able to live with cats. He can be fearful of traffic and loud noises so would be better suited in a rural environment away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. He walks nicely on the lead and knows basic commands such as sit, drop and stay. Ben is looking for a human companion for company and to go on long walks with but not necessarily for cuddles even though he is very loving. If you think you can offer Ben a home please complete an adoption form on the link below.

Frankie

Frankie

6-years-old, male

Pug

Frankie is looking for an adult only home with no other dogs. He does suffer from minor separation anxiety so is looking for a home with humans that are around most of the day. He walks nicely on the lead and has lots of energy so is looking for an active home and 2 good walks a day. Whilst we understand Frankie has lived in a home with another dog we feel his needs and temperament means he needs to an only dog so he can get all the love and affection he needs without having to share his humans. His new home needs no restrictions inside so he can feel free to roam as he pleases and externally 6ft fences will be needed as he can jump quite high. If you feel you could offer Frankie a home please complete an adoption form on the link below.

Betsy

Betsy

3.5-years-old, female

SBT

We would like to introduce Betsy a 2-year-old Stafford. She is currently living in a loving home but due to her hew owners ill health, she needs to find a new family that can give her everything she needs. She has lots of really good qualities, she’s good with kids (although boisterous so we are looking for a home with no babies or small children), she is very loving and willing to learn. She is ok with other dogs but she can be a bit full on and goes over the top which can sometimes make dogs grumpy with her so we are looking for a home with no other dogs or cats. She does suffer with a little separation anxiety and is very loyal to her mum so her family will need to have someone around most of the day and she will need to be able to have freedom of the house. She is still young and has lots of energy so her new home will need to ensure she gets both the mental and physical stimulation she needs and continues with her training. She walks well on the lead but can pull at times so further training in the area will need to continue as well as working on her recall.
