Acorn

Acorn

3-years-old, female

Crossbreed

My name is Acorn, and the volunteers here say I am the most beautiful girl in the world. I’m a big softie. I make the volunteers laugh with my antics. I sit on the benches with them and give them my paw, and lots of cuddles, they seem to like that. “Time, trust and treats are Acorn’s priorities.” I love everyone here but I’d really like a human or two to call my own. I’ve been here a long time now. So, let me tell you all about me. I love to play, and I’d really like some of my own toys. I’ve always dreamed of having my own snuffle mat, I really like puzzle toys because there’s food hidden in them! I like you to play too, but if you’re too tired, I can entertain myself throwing toys in the air and catching them again. “She also makes me fall about laughing when she zooms around the park” I’m housetrained so you don’t need to worry about any puddles! I’m very good on the lead, I put my head down and get on with the important job of sniffing. “I adore Acorn, she’s so lovely to walk and she’s such a poser for the camera” I need experienced, dog savvy owners, because, the thing is, men, scare me. If they let me come to them in my own time I’m OK, and I learnt to love them, but if they want to fuss me when we first meet, I don’t like it. I know I am beautiful, but I don’t like too much attention on a first date! “She is the sweetest, most gentle lady and can give as much love as you can give to her!”

 Bert

***Adopted***

Bert

10[years-old, male

SBT

My name is Bert, and even though I am of senior age, I am still very much full of life. When I came to Pawprints, the humans realised I was struggling with kennel life, so they found me a lovely foster family who are learning all about me and reporting back daily on how I am getting on. While I love my foster family my time with them will not be forever, so I am desperate to find my own family. I love going out and walk nicely on the lead. I like to potter around and have a good sniff and don’t mind a short walk around the block or a long walk in the countryside. I was a bit hesitant when going in the car as I had never really experienced this before, but my humans take me out daily now, and I am starting to really enjoy my trips out, and as a bonus we always land up somewhere nice where we can have a walk or even pop into the pub for a quick half (well the humans can). I do like to sleep, and on average I am an 8 hour a night kind of guy so give me a nice comfy bed and I will be more than happy to get my head down and have a nice snooze. At my age I don’t want for much, I like a nice comfy bed, 2 nice walks a day, feeding (this is very important as I love my food and am partial to a bit of cheese as a treat), the company of humans and a little snuggle is always nice as well. I am generally a good chap when I meet other dogs, but at my age I would prefer to be the only animal in the home and no young children as they can be very exhausting to train and can get a little over excited, I am now thoroughly enjoying retirement and would like humans to share my time with.

Lady

Lady

5-years-old, female

GSD

My name is Lady, and as you can see, I am a beautiful White German Shepherd. I am looking for a home who understand my breed, want a larger dog and has time to continue with my training. I do pull on the lead, so I need training in this area, but it may take some time, so I need my human to be patient and to be able to walk me confidently while I am learning to walk with a loose lead. I have learnt to sit and to give my paw, but I am still a little naughty when it comes to recall and don’t always like to go back to my humans when they call me as sometimes I am just having too much fun so this is another area where I need some help. I can be a little vocal sometimes when I see other dogs, this is not me reacting in a negative way towards but generally frustration at wanting to go over and meet them and say hello, unfortunately some dogs find this intimidating so I need to learn not to speak until spoken to and not to be so excited to meet everyone as I understand not all dogs want to meet me. Due to my long flowing locks I will need grooming regularly, it takes time to look as beautiful as this, so my humans are going to need to brush me regularly and whisk me off for a cut and blow dry as well (they will also need to love white hair as I will also moult and will leave my hair lying around).

Pascal Parsnip

Pascal Parsnip

10-years-old, male

Labrador

My name is Pascal Parsnip (I know, I think there was a little too much Sherry drank over the festive period when they chose my name) but I am a handsome Labrador/Retriever. I am around 10 years old and originally came into rescue as a stray from the pound. I may be 10 but don’t be fooled that I am in my twilight years as there is still plenty of running left in these legs. I am a perfect gentleman, and travel well in a car and will sit and watch out of the window taking in all the sights enjoying my journey.  walk nicely on the lead and but can pull a little if I smell something I need to go and investigate.  I am good with most dogs and have come into contact with a few little ones that barked at me and I just ignored them and I will let you know when I would like to meet a dog as my tail goes like mad. When out and about I am on a bit of a mission as I love investigating, sniffing and finding new things so I can be a little aloof but once in the home I am unbelievably affectionate! I love rolling on my back, love attention and fuss and am happy to take as much as my humans a willing to give.  I know how to sit and give my paw but that’s about it in relation to commands so I would love to learn more and I am currently trying to learn recall but this is hit and miss depending on what else is going on around me, and for this reason, I need to be walked on a lead/long line and off lead exercise needs to be done in an enclosed/secure area only. Let me know if you need to know anything else.

Chance

***Adopted***

Chance

1-year-old, male

Lurcher

My name is Chance, and I am a Lurcher, but I am small for my breed. I can be shy when I meet new people, so a slow greeting is my preferred way of introducing myself, but it doesn’t take me long to slowly start leaning in for a cuddle, a snuggle and lots of fuss. I am very tactile, so I’m looking for humans that want to share their sofa with me so I can be as close to them as I can. I walk nicely on the lead, and I don’t pull and enjoy pottering around and having a good sniff. I have no recall, so this is an area where I would like my human to work with me as like any Lurcher I like to stretch my legs and have a bit of a run but at the moment I may not come back so even better would be an enclosed areas where I can have a run off my lead but be safe as well. I am happy in the company of other dogs, but like with humans I can be a bit shy, so I would prefer to live with another dog that is not too boisterous but who I can run and play with and possibly snuggle with as well.

 Pod

Pod

3-year-old, male

Lurcher

My name is Pod and I am a beautiful lurcher. I am around 3 years old and originally came into rescue as a stray from the pound. I do not really know any basic commands so further training would be beneficial and am currently trying to learn recall but this is hit and miss depending on what else is going on around me, and for this reason, I need to be walked on a lead/long line and off lead exercise needs to be done in an enclosed/secure area only. I can live in a home with another well-matched dog but can sometimes be a little too enthusiastic at playtime so would need to ensure that I am not too full on with the resident dog when we engage in play. I would say I am a fun loving dog and would bring lots of love and energy into any home and am ready and waiting to find my humans.

Dudley

Dudley

6-years-old, male

Boxer X

My name is Dudley and I am a handsome boxer X. I love everything… I love walking, running, playing ball, cuddles and treats. I am a very intelligent lad and know how to give my paw (both of them), sit, lay down and roll over but am always happy to learn more. I can be a little strong on the lead and walk better on a harness but I am happy to learn more about loose lead walking and also recall. I am looking for humans who enjoy walking and cuddles, I can be left for short periods of time and come house trained.
